To Your Success

It was a success. Since my last letter, a great deal has been happening here. Yes, we did make it official. John and I were married the end of May. It was a very special day. We actually enjoyed it, and I have to say it truly was a success. Which brings me to the focus of this letter - success. Success can be a very evasive concept. How does one really know if they are successful? I would venture to say, if you have not articulated what success means for your own life, or work, or event you are planning (like a wedding), you will always feel it is just outside of your grasp. So a primary key to anyone's success is to first articulate what it is. Not basing it on what others might think or say, but on what you feel would indicate achievement. Once you do this, you can enter into a place of rest and peace as you find and live out of what is important to you. Now back to our wedding...it was a small event, not very formal. We had both the reception and ceremony in a fun little French restaurant. We were able to visit with each table, catching up with our family and friends along the way. It was not glamorous, or over the top, but for John and me...it was a success. What about you? How do you define success in your | personal life? In your work? In your important relationships? In your health? Do you have a clear picture? In each of those areas (not using anyone else as the measure), how are you doing currently? Rate yourself from 0-10, with 10 being as successful as you can possibly be. Where are you today? Next, what is one small step you can take in each area to start boosting your score in the next month? Just one step. Now go and do it! And remember... When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare or compete, everybody will respect you. - Lao Tzu
